Russian Railways seeks from China to increase the number of container trains

The removal of covid restrictions on cross-border transportation with China has a positive effect on the volume of container traffic. Alexey Shilo, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways, told reporters about this. In January 2023, compared to November and December 2022, the growth was about 10% and by 68% by January 2022.
Every day, according to the top manager, an average of 63,000 tons of cargo passes through the state border of the Russian Federation with China (in January 2022 – 37,000 tons). For comparison: in February 2022, the volume of transfer (transshipment) of container trains at the Russian-Chinese border was 55,000 tons per day, in March – 53,000 tons, Shilo noted.
