Russian Railways recorded an increase in demand for long-distance trips during the May holidays

Passengers purchased 2.5 million long-distance train tickets for the May holidays, from April 28 to May 10. The number of tickets issued was 11% higher than last year, Russian Railways reported. In 2022, 2.1 million tickets were purchased for trips during the May holidays.
In order to meet the demand for trips for the May holidays, Russian Railways is selling tickets on trains for more than 3 million seats, of which over 320,000 are on 800 additional trains.
In addition, for the period of the May holidays, Russian Railways will also launch tourist trains, in particular, the “Pearl of the Caucasus”, “To the Victory Day”, “Belarusian Voyage”, “To Siberia”, as well as “Silver Route” and “To Karelia”.
In 2023, Russians will rest from April 29 to May 1. The working week will be reduced to four days: from 2 to 5 May. The weekend from 6 to 9 May will be followed by a shortened three-day work week from 10 to 12 May.
According to experts from major booking services, the demand for daily property rentals during the May holidays has grown by a quarter year-on-year. The average price per day this year for May is about 4 thousand rubles. The list of the most popular destinations includes the Krasnodar Territory and Stavropol Territory, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod regions, as well as Tatarstan, Dagestan, St. Petersburg, Moscow and the Moscow region.
