In June 2023, Russian Railways increased the export of containers from ports and dry terminals in the Far East by 52% to 3,100 TEU (equivalent of a 20-foot container) per day year-on-year. This was reported to Vedomosti by a representative of the state-owned company. He clarified that we are talking about export both on fitting platforms (special rolling stock for containers) and in gondola cars.
Russian Railways also reported on the growth in the export of containers from the Far East on July 5 in its Telegram channel. The June result is 4% higher than in May this year, the Russian Railways representative added. Thus, in May, 2,981 TEU were exported from the Far East per day. The company did not disclose data for the first half of the year. But Deputy General Director of Russian Railways Alexei Shilo said at SPIEF-2023 that the company is ready to export up to 4,500 TEU per day from the ports of the Far East.
