Russian Post announced its readiness for the remote sale of wine

The infrastructure of the Russian Post is ready for an experiment on the remote sale of wine, informed company press office.
“Post employees have prepared everything necessary for the launch – they have identified zones for storing wine in logistics facilities in accordance with the law, prepared equipment for transportation to pilot regions,” the message says.
The company interacts with professional market participants, including wine producers, regulators, to take into account all the specifics of operational processes, information exchange and other necessary parameters to launch the experiment.
The company also developed a project for a specialized showcase site. It will be launched when the regulatory changes come into effect. It is noted that all sales will be recorded in the Unified State Automated Information System (EGAIS).
The Russian Post logistics center was visited by a parliamentary delegation of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy. The visit of the delegation took place before the consideration in the first reading of the bill, which launches an experiment on the remote sale of Russian wine in two regions – Moscow and the Moscow Region, the press service of the Russian Post added.
It is expected that this experiment will take place from November 1, 2023 to July 31, 2026. Through a subsection on the Russian Post website, a person will be able to buy still, sparkling and fortified wine made from grapes grown in Russia. Delivery is possible no earlier than 24 hours after ordering. Only adults will be able to buy wine by presenting an identity card.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry calls for the adoption of a law on the sale of alcohol online, without waiting for the results of an experiment to sell domestic wine through the Russian Post website. The experiment itself is proposed to be reduced from three years to one year, to extend it not only to the Moscow region, but also to all subjects of the Russian Federation, allowing to participate in it “economic entities with the necessary licenses, qualified personnel, as well as experience in retail sales and express delivery.”
In April the government approved a draft law on launching an experiment on the online sale of domestic wine through the Russian Post.
