Russian oilmen increased commissioning of new wells

In the first quarter of 2023, Russian oil companies put into operation 2001 new oil wells, which is 10% more than in the same period in 2022, two sources familiar with the statistics of the Ministry of Energy told Vedomosti.
According to them, the increase in the indicator was accounted for by large vertically integrated oil companies (VIOC), which increased the commissioning of wells by 11% to 1829 wells. Other producers, including independent oil companies, reduced well commissioning by 3% to 171 wells. Another well was put into operation in the first quarter of this year by the Sakhalin-2 Production Sharing Agreement operator.
