Russian civil aircraft MS-21 and Superjet are planned to be united under a common aviation brand, said Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. He clarified that the final decision on this topic will be announced in the near future. He did not give an approximate time frame.

“I won’t lie, we are working in this direction. I will not definitively say what decision we are approaching, but obviously we will announce it in the near future,” Mr. Manturov said in an interview with TASS at the international exhibition and forum “Russia”.

Back in 2011, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) decided abandon the production of competing aircraft in favor of machines that complement each other within a single line. It was assumed that the new aircraft would be built on the basis of the MC-21 and SuperJet projects using the most successful technical solutions of each model. At the end of 2019, the head of the UAC Yuri Slyusar statedthat all Russian civil aircraft can receive a single name. He said that a separate structure is being formed in the country – the Civil Aviation Division, which will include the manufacturers of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 and MC-21. The head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, admitted that the SJ100 aircraft could change its name, including to a Russian one.
