Russian dairy producers are negotiating to begin supplying products to Hong Kong. Among them are Ekonova and Molinvest, sources said. “Vedomosti”.

An Ekonova representative confirmed this information and added that we are talking about supplies of pasteurized drinking milk. He did not specify the volumes of planned exports. Representatives of Molinvest did not respond to journalists’ requests.

It became possible to expand the sales market for Russian dairy companies after Rosselkhoznadzor, in October, agreed on a veterinary certificate for domestic products with local authorities. This market seems to be very interesting, since Hong Kong has virtually no domestic production of dairy products, noted Soyuzmolok representative Roman Chubak.

Mr. Chubak also said that powdered milk accounts for most of the Gonkonka market. In monetary terms in 2022 – $512.5 million or 37,000 tons in kind. Drinking milk and cream accounted for $123.4 million, or 96,000 tons, as well as cheeses — $105.6 million, or 16,100 tons. He notes that Russian producers see the greatest prospects in the milk powder segment, but there they will have to compete with large suppliers from China and New Zealand.

From January 1, 2024, the government will reimburse the costs of transporting dairy products in full. Before this, it only reimbursed a quarter of such costs.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2022, 800,000 tons of dairy products were exported. A year earlier – 1 million tons. This year, the export volume may exceed 1 million tons.
