Deputy Minister of Transport Igor Chalik said that in ten months of 2022, Russian airlines carried 80 million passengers. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to transport 100 million people for the entire year.
“Without today, by October 30, 80 million passengers were transported, of which 66 million were on domestic routes and 14 million on international routes,” said Igor Chalik (quoted from Interfax).
Mr. Chalik noted that the passenger traffic by the end of the year may be slightly less than planned. According to him, the results are affected by the prolonged closure of 11 airports. The temporary flight restriction regime has been in effect since February 24. October 26 extended for the 40th time.
“We are trying to compensate for it through open airports, but such airports as Simferopol, Anapa, Gelendzhik, of course, cannot be fully compensated, unfortunately… transportation,” said Igor Chalik.
On March 31, Vladimir Putin said that the volume of domestic transportation in 2022 should increase compared to 2021, and the number of passengers carried should be at least 100 million people. This is 10% less than in 2021 (111 million people). Also, this indicator is 22% lower than the results of 2019 (128 million people). At the same time, in January-October 2021, airlines transported 94.6 million people.
