Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side will consider options for legally securing its rights in connection with the intention of Naftogaz Ukraine to recover $ 5 billion. April 13 court in The Hague obliged Russia to pay $5 billion in compensation to Naftogaz for facilities in Crimea, which the state-owned company lost after the peninsula became part of the Russian Federation in 2014. According to the court, the amount should be equal to the fair market value of the assets until they are expropriated. Prior to the annexation of Crimea to Russia, Naftogaz owned a number of large assets on the peninsula, including the subsidiary Chernomorneftegaz with a production of about 1.6 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year, underground storage, a gas pipeline system and two offshore drilling platforms.
