Oilfield services company OFS Technologies (former Baker Hughes in Russia) plans to launch production of rotary steerable systems (RS) in Russia in early 2025, critical oilfield equipment for directional drilling. This was announced in an interview with Vedomosti by the company’s president, David Gadzhimirzaev.
Gadzhimirzaev explained that now in Russia there are difficulties in meeting the needs of the industry in RSS, which allow directional drilling. With their help, you can control the speed of drilling and its other parameters. The start of RUS production, according to Gadzhimirzaev, is scheduled for early 2025, while we are not talking about creating a joint venture with foreigners. “We plan to become completely independent in 2025 in terms of the production of rotary steerable systems. We analyze the geography of production location. Most likely, it will be Western Siberia,” said the top manager.
