Russia tripled propane and butane exports to Poland in August

Railway deliveries of Russian liquefied hydrocarbon gases (LHG, a mixture of propane and butane) to Poland increased by 2.8 times in August to 79,100 tons against 28,300 tons in July. This is stated in the analytical review of the Argus agency.
According to the agency, at the end of August, spot prices for propane-butane mixture at the Polish-Belarusian border were in the range of $635-685 per 1 ton ($635-680 per 1 ton a week earlier). Traders in Poland are expecting a surge in demand for LPG starting in September, according to Argus.
In February, the agency, citing forwarders, reported that in 2021, Russian LPG exports by rail amounted to about 3.83 million tons, which is 10% lower than in 2020. This was facilitated by a reduction in domestic production of the product and an increase in propane-butane consumption as a raw material at the Sibur enterprise Zapsibneftekhim. The minimum volume of export shipments in 2021 fell on August (235,200 tons), when, due to an accident at a gas condensate treatment plant in Novy Urengoy, there was an increase in LPG supplies to the domestic market.
