Food exports from Russia to Qatar increased by 50% in 2022, Russian Ambassador to Dmitry Dogadkin said in an interview with RIA Novosti. He specified that Russia had resumed deliveries of barley and sunflower oil to Qatar. When and to what extent, he did not specify.

“The Miratorg company is active in the Qatari market, as well as other large Russian producers that supply halal poultry and beef. In 2022, Russia increased its exports to the Qatari market of food and agricultural products by more than 50%,” said Mr. Dogadkin.

On July 18, Russia stopped participating in the grain deal, which involved the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea. On the same day, the government approved the Strategy for the Development of Organic Production until 2030. According to the document, it is planned to arrange the supply of goods with “great export potential” – barley, frozen berries, honey and nuts – to the countries of the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia and neighboring countries, but this requires mutual recognition of “organic” certificates.
