Russia reduced LNG exports in January-April by 11% yoy – Kommersant

In January-April this year, Russia exported 10.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas, which is 11% lower than in the same period in 2022. The volume of Russian LNG exports to Europe remained at the level of last year, Reuters reports citing data from the Refinitiv Eikon portal.
According to the agency, in the first four months of this year, Russia shipped 6.4 million tons of LNG to Europe, 3.7 million tons to Asia. In January-April 2022, the Russian Federation also exported 6.4 million tons of liquefied gas to Europe, in Asia – 5.3 million tons, reminds Reuters. In April, the total volume of LNG exports from Russia decreased to 2.48 million tons (2.6 million tons in March), of which 1.2 million tons were shipped to Europe, the agency reports.
According to Refinitiv data, in January-April 2023, NOVATEK exported 6.4 million tons of LNG from Yamal (7.4 million tons in the first four months of 2022). In the four months of this year, Gazprom shipped 3.4 million tons of LNG from its Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project against 4.1 million in January-April last year, Reuters reports.
According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, in April 2023, LNG inflow to the European market has reached maximum value in history. Over the past month, European LNG terminals sent 12.073 billion cubic meters to the gas transmission network. m. “Kommersant” noted that in terms of pipeline exports to the EU, Russia is now between Algeria and Azerbaijan. At the current pace, Gazprom’s supplies to the EU may almost cease by 2025.
