Russia needs 700 billion rubles to develop LNG-powered transport

In Russia, the widespread use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a motor fuel for transport will require investments of 700 billion rubles. until 2030. Such an assessment is given in a study by the consulting company Yakov and Partners (formerly McKinsey in Russia). The amount of funding announced by the state until 2025 is only 10 billion rubles, analysts point out.

Experts note that the use of gas as a vehicle fuel will grow primarily due to its high economic efficiency. The cost of 1 cu. m of gas for private consumers in Russia is “less than 10% of the average European values”, and the total cost of ownership of a vehicle running on LNG throughout the entire life cycle (total cost of ownership, TCO) is 20–30% lower than for diesel.
