Exports of Russian raw nickel to China increased by 32% in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year to 18,400 tons. 2.6 times up to 2500 tons, respectively. This is evidenced by the data of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.
The increase was observed against the backdrop of a reduction in supplies to the EU. Although Russian nickel was not subject to Western sanctions, sales of metal in raw form from Russia to the EU, according to Eurostat, decreased in January-May 2023 by 1.8 times year-on-year to 15,600 tons.
