Currently, Russia has no plans to ease restrictions on diesel fuel exports, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said. The ban on diesel fuel exports was introduced on September 21 to reduce prices on the Russian fuel market.
Answering the question Bloomberg News about Russia’s future plans to lift the export ban, Mr. Novak said: “There are no decisions yet.” At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that if problems arise due to current restrictions, they will be considered by the Ministry of Energy.
From September 21, the Russian government introduced a temporary restriction on the export of gasoline and diesel to stabilize the domestic market. First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy Pavel Sorokin clarifiedthat the ban has so far been introduced indefinitely, its duration will depend on market saturation and the results of this measure.
October 6 government approved a set of systemic measures that should ensure balance in the domestic petroleum products market. The ban on diesel fuel exports has been partially lifted. Companies were allowed to supply fuel abroad, but only through pipelines to seaports for producers and not more than half of the total output. In addition, from October 1, the fuel damper was restored, lowered from September from 1 to 0.5.
