The first flight to Cuban Varadero took off from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. On board the aircraft, according to TASS, there are 457 passengers.

It is planned to expand the flight program to three flights a week from September. Charter flights to Cuba are also operated by Nordwind, the company flies to Varadero and Cayo Coco.

On February 28, 2022, Russian airlines announced the suspension of flights to Cuba due to the introduction by a number of European states of restrictions on the use of their airspace. On the resumption of air communication between Russia and Cuba from July informed Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the end of May. According to him, Cuba is an important partner of Russia, so the resumption of air traffic with this country is of particular importance.
