Russia has approved duty-free import of certain agricultural products to Mongolia, said Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko. She visited Mongolia on a working visit, and a meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Mongolian commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation was held there.

As the Deputy Prime Minister clarified, since the beginning of the year, Russia has increased supplies of cereals to Mongolia sevenfold and animal feed by 2.5 times. According to her, partners see great potential in mutual trade in agricultural products. “We have positively resolved the issue of duty-free import of certain types of agricultural products from Mongolia into Russia,” she said (quoted by TASS).

Russia withdrew from the grain deal on July 18, declaring failure to fulfill its terms. In September, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres sent a letter to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with proposals to resume the deal. He answered criticized UN initiative. According to pessimistic estimates, October wheat exports from the Russian Federation may be lower than last year’s figure for the first time since the beginning of the season.
