Rule 34 won the Golden Leopard in Locarno

The picture of the Brazilian director Julia Murat “Rule 34” (Regra 34) became the winner of the “Golden Leopard” award, presented as part of the annual film festival in Locarno, Switzerland. A recording of the awards ceremony is available at YouTube channel festival.
The film “Rule 34” is dedicated to the struggle of Brazilian women with sexual violence. The name of the picture is borrowed from a common Internet concept, which says that any socially significant phenomenon has a pornographic interpretation.
The actors who starred in Mrs. Murat’s film were also awarded for the best female and male roles. The jury also noted “Rule 34” for the best director’s work, in total 17 films participated in the competition of the festival.
The Locarno International Film Festival, along with the Cannes, Venice and Berlin festivals, is considered one of the most prestigious events in the film industry.
