Roszdravnadzor confirmed that Eapteka, owned by Sberbank, received permission to sell prescription drugs online. The company became the first participant in an experiment on the remote sale of prescription drugs, which has been in effect since March 1. Earlier today, March 27, Sber Eapteka has already reported about the start of sales.
“Roszdravnadzor reviewed all the submitted documents and on March 23 made a decision to issue the first permit to eApteka LLC for the remote retail sale of prescription drugs for medical use,” the message departments.
The experiment operates only in three regions – in Moscow, Moscow and Belgorod regions. To obtain a permit, you must submit an electronic application. 904 items were included in the list of medicines for sale remotely.
In April 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed government to prepare a draft law on an experiment in the sale of prescription drugs remotely. The State Duma adopted the corresponding bill in October of the same year. The experiment is valid until March 1, 2026.
The law provides for exemptions for preparations containing, inter alia, narcotic and psychotropic substances. Remote sales of over-the-counter medicines in Russia have been allowed since April 2020.
