Rostransnadzor supported the proposal to extend the maintenance intervals (TO) of Western aircraft, as requested by several Russian airlines. The proposal provides for the consideration of each individual case with the participation of Rostransnadzor, Rosaviatsia, design bureaus and research organizations, which will make it possible to make transparent and safe decisions on maintenance, the agency explained.
The Rostransnadzor recalled that the practice of extending maintenance periods is provided for in the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization and has proven itself well.
On February 13, Mr. Tereshchenko said that due to sanctions, the repair time for aircraft components had increased significantly. Restrictions imposed because of the military operation have deprived Russian airlines of Western services and components. Access to technical documentation was limited, but these difficulties were partially overcome, an Aeroflot representative also told Izvestia.
“Now there are problems of access to repair documentation, technologies and equipment for repairing components, as well as compliance with airworthiness directives,” he explained.
