Rostec will launch production of the newest glide bomb “Drill”

The newest glide bomb “Drell” has passed all the tests of the Ministry of Defense, Rostec reported. Serial production of the ammunition is planned to start this year.

A number of bomb warheads are currently being developed. “The Drill is capable of independently flying the required distance to the target and opening above it at the right moment. If the destructive element does not work on a given target, it will self-destruct after a certain time and will not pose a danger to the population after the cessation of hostilities,”— reported in a state corporation.

The Drill glide bomb is designed to destroy armored vehicles, ground-based radar stations, power plant control centers and anti-aircraft missile systems. It is alleged that the bomb is capable of reaching the target itself and opening above it. If the damaging element does not work, it will self-destruct after a certain time.

Weapons production in the Russian Federation is being increased against the backdrop of the military operation in Ukraine. At Rostec talked, that since the beginning of 2023, its enterprises have produced 20 times more shells for multiple launch rocket systems than in the entire 2022. In December, at the board of the Ministry of Defense, President Vladimir Putin statedthat arms supplies to Russian troops have tripled compared to 2022.
