The developer of this facility, Varvarka 14 Multifunctional Complex, Buildings 1, 2, has already registered several Internet domains with the name of the hotel this year: hotel-russia, moscowhotelrussia, russia-MGK, and so on. A representative of Kievskaya Ploshchad confirmed to Vedomosti that the project on Varvarka would indeed be called Rossiya.

The Rossiya Hotel was built in the historical quarter of Kitay-Gorod Zaryadye in 1964–1967. It was designed for 5300 people, many foreign guests and high-ranking officials stayed in it. In the early 70s. “Russia” was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest hotel facility in the world. In 1977, the hotel suffered a severe fire that caused serious damage to it.
