Rospotrebnadzor has strengthened control over Jermuk mineral water, the department’s press service reported. At the beginning of the week, it became known that a resident of Vladikavkaz died due to burns to the esophagus received after drinking this mineral water.
“Rospotrebnadzor employees have strengthened control over Jermuk mineral water in retail outlets and public catering establishments. All measures have been taken to prevent harm to the life and health of citizens,” the press service reported (quoted from RIA Novosti). The department clarified that the sale of about 2.5 million bottles of individual batches of this mineral water has currently been suspended.
Rospotrebnadzor called on citizens to report to the territorial bodies of the department about places of sale of Jermuk water in 0.5 liter glass bottles produced on December 28, 2023. “This product will not be released into circulation until laboratory confirmation of its safety is received,” the department noted.
The head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, announced the poisoning of a 65-year-old man with mineral water on February 12. According to him, instead of mineral water, the closed Jermuk bottle contained vinegar. On February 13, the man died. TFR excited criminal case.
