In 2023, Rosneft plans to increase hydrocarbon production by 5% compared to last year, Igor Sechin, CEO of Rosneft, told reporters on the sidelines of the India Energy Week conference in Bangalore (India) on February 6. According to him, in 2022 hydrocarbon production increased by 3%. The head of Rosneft did not specify absolute figures.
During the conference, Sechin also announced an increase in production at the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project, one of the participants (20% through Sakhalinmorneftegaz-shelf and RN-Astra) and operated by Rosneft. “Everything is fine there, we are operating, everything is fine <...> Work is going on both on the shore and on the platforms. Lots of stuff, but it’s all good. Mining is coming. Sales are on,” he said. Now, according to Sechin, production has not yet reached the planned volumes. “But we are raising prey,” he added. Previously, Exxon Neftegaz Limited (a subsidiary of the American Exxon Mobil), without agreement with other project participants, began a gradual reduction in production from April 26, and from May 15, the enterprise’s activities were almost completely stopped. In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the temporary transfer of control of the new project operator to the Sakhalinmorneftegaz-shelf company.
