Roskomnadzor will restrict access to sites with methods for bypassing blocking from March 1

Starting today, March 1, a ban on the popularization of services for bypassing blocking, including VPN, came into force in Russia. The corresponding law was adopted in the summer of 2023. Roskomnadzor will block instructions and links to download programs to bypass blocking, as well as messages that describe the advantages of such services and convince them to use them.
In anticipation of the ban on “popularizing VPNs,” some sites began deleting information about such services or network settings back in February. Portals began to introduce automated systems and new rules for content moderation. Kommersant’s sources said that for large sites the share of search traffic for articles about VPN was insignificant.
