Roskomnadzor has agreed to include representatives of the book and music industry in the anti-piracy memorandum, Vadim Subbotin, deputy head of the Russian Book Market, said at the industry conference “Book Market of Russia – 2023”.
“Just the other day, we held a big event with the participation of all industry organizations and decided to include representatives of the book industry and music services in the anti-piracy memorandum,” he said.
Search engines and copyright holders signed anti-piracy memorandum on November 1, 2018, the agreement expired on September 1, 2019. Subsequently, it was repeatedly extended.
This memorandum was intended to strengthen the fight of copyright holders against the spread of illegal video content on the Internet. To do this, the companies agreed to create a register of links to pages of sites where, in the opinion of copyright holders, a pirated video can be posted. In addition, the document assumes the creation of a registry with pirated resources and obliges to remove links to these resources from search results out of court.
