Roskomnadzor blocked the website of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) www.pomisna.info. The reason for restricting access was the posting of prohibited content that is aimed at inciting hatred and enmity, the department’s press service reported.
“Access to the specified resource is limited on an ongoing basis in accordance with Article 15.3-2 of the Law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection” due to the repeated posting of prohibited content,” Roskomnadzor said.
The agency claims that the OCU website “systematically distributed materials aimed at inciting hatred and enmity against persons united on the basis of social, national, religious and linguistic affiliation.”
The Orthodox Church of Ukraine received autocephaly in 2019. The Russian Orthodox Church considers the OCU schismatic, and the Patriarchate of Constantinople recognizes it as the legitimate local church of Ukraine. The OCU is now laying claim to one of the main Orthodox shrines – the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, which has long been at the disposal of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
