Mobile operators provided Roskomnadzor with data on 216.7 million subscribers, which is 65% of their active subscriber base. Violations were found in 4.4% of them (about 9.5 million). From January to August, operators must update subscriber data according to the law of 2021.
Operators “eventually” will have to block the SIM cards of unidentified subscribers, Roskomnadzor said. “If such active SIM cards are identified, operators will face liability under Art. 13.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, ”the ministry said in a statement.
As noted, 43 mobile operators operate in Russia. They continue to work “to verify information and update subscriber databases.” On average, they correct the data of 3.1 million subscribers per week.
Tele2, Beeline and Megafon reported “Prime”, which inform customers about the need to undergo data reconciliation. This can be done in communication stores and in your personal account on the site using a public services account. MTS did not respond to a request.
Roskomnadzor’s message appeared in the media after publications Vedomosti that up to 7 million SIM cards can be blocked in Russia. The conclusion was based on data from Telecom Daily about gray SIM cards in Russia.
