Evgeny Zaytsev, head of Roskomnadzor’s Department for Control and Supervision of Electronic Communications, said the agency had discussed the need to introduce measures against the Twitch streaming service. According to him, we can talk about full or partial blocking.
“We are ready to discuss it. Because we believe that such actions should be approached carefully, including the possible risks that exist for our bloggers who use this resource. This must be assessed and a balanced decision made based on the results,” said Evgeny Zaitsev during a round table in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Earlier today, on February 17, Anton Gorelkin, deputy chairman of the Duma committee for information policy, said that Twitch had long deserved to be blocked, since the service regularly violates Russian law. He mentioned, in particular, drug and casino ads appearing on the Twitch platform, as well as materials that discredit the Russian army.
January 31 Twitch was fined for 4 million rubles. for broadcasting an interview with the former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich. This was the fifth fine that the Russian court imposed on the company. In July, RKN obliged search engines mark Twitch as a violator of the law, since the service does not remove information about the special operation in Ukraine, which the agency considers unreliable.
