Rosaviatsia reported minor flight delays in Moscow due to freezing rain

Despite the difficult weather conditions in Moscow, the airports of the Moscow air hub are operating normally, Rosaviatsia told Vedomosti.

“There are no cancellations of flights due to weather conditions, the maintenance of aircraft and passengers is carried out as planned. The existing minor flight delays are associated with an increase in the time for de-icing treatment of aircraft and cleaning of airfield infrastructure from snow,” the ministry said.

According to the serviceYandex.Schedules” at 13:00 Moscow time 13 flights were delayed and 13 canceled at Moscow airports. Most flights were delayed at Domodedovo – 9.

“All Vnukovo services work with the involvement of the necessary number of personnel and production resources to ensure the sustainable functioning of all vital airport systems. The necessary number of multifunctional snowplows, special vehicles for the distribution of chemicals and the treatment of aircraft with anti-icing liquid have been activated,” the airport representative said.

Vedomosti sent inquiries to Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. Vnukovo Airport is operating normally, despite difficult weather conditions, not a single flight has been canceled, its representative told Vedomosti.

Domodevovo also serves all flights as normal, the airport’s press service told Vedomosti: “Slight deviations in the schedule may arise due to the need for anti-icing treatment of aircraft.” Passengers using road transport are advised to allow extra time for a trip to the airport at Domodedovo

“Sheremetyevo” provides in a stable mode the reception and departure of aircraft, servicing airlines and passengers, said the representative of the airport.

Forecasters warned Muscovites about a blizzard and freezing rain, motorists and pedestrians about the need to be extremely careful because of the ice cover. A warning was also made by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for housing and communal services and landscaping Petr Biryukov. Due to weather conditions, Moscow city services were put on high alert.
