The Federal Air Transport Agency issued a permit to the Georgian airline Georgian Airways to operate flights between Tbilisi and Moscow. About it reported on the website of the department.
“The Federal Air Transport Agency, based on the principles of reciprocity and in the development of the agreements between the aviation authorities of Russia and Georgia, issued the appropriate permission to operate flights on the Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi route of Georgian Airways,” the report says.
Georgian Airways will be able to operate flights on this route seven times a week.
Earlier, Georgia allowed Georgian Airways to operate direct flights from Tbilisi to Moscow from May 20.
Today, May 19, the Russian airline “Azimuth” performed first flight from Moscow to Tbilisi. Earlier today, the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia announced the issuance of Red Wings permission to fly from the beginning of June to Tbilisi and Kutaisi from Moscow and Sochi. Charter flights on both routes will begin on June 2 and will operate three times a week: on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the resumption of air traffic with Georgia, which was terminated in the summer of 2019. In addition, by a separate decree, on May 15, he canceled the visa regime for Georgian citizens.
On May 10, a representative of the Ministry of Transport told Vedomosti that domestic airlines would operate seven direct flights a week from Moscow to Tbilisi and back. At the same time, the representative of the department specified that the flights “will be carried out on domestic-made aircraft.” The only Russian aircraft currently operated by airlines is the SSJ100.
