The performance of flights by Russian airlines to Egypt through the airspace of Syria was not authorized by the Federal Air Transport Agency. Representatives of the agency noted significant shortcomings in the documentation on the risk assessment of such an air route, provided by the airline iFly.
“Before the airline meeting (iFly.— “b”) was submitted to the Federal Air Transport Agency a package of documents on risk assessment for flights of civil aircraft near the region … there were significant shortcomings in the documents, about which the head of the airline was informed, ”the agency said (Kommersant has it).
This week “Kommersant” found outthat the Russian air carriers NordWind, Icarus and iFly, flying to Egypt, asked the Federal Air Transport Agency to lift the ban on flights through Syria. It was introduced in 2013 against the background of the escalation of the armed conflict in the region.
Today, December 16, it became known that about 620 passengers were accommodated in Moscow hotels due to delays iFly flights to Egypt. Previously, due to the lack of an insurance certificate, Jordan banned the airline from flying through its airspace. The Federal Air Transport Agency gave the airline “instructions to strictly observe the rights of air passengers” in connection with the incident.
On the reasons for the appeal of airlines to the Federal Air Transport Agency – in the exclusive “Kommersant” “Syria is needed like air”.
