Rosaviatsia began selecting airlines for subsidies for domestic flights

The Federal Air Transport Agency, in accordance with the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, began selecting air carriers to allocate subsidies to support flights within Russia this year, the press service of the department reported.

“The provision of the subsidy is aimed at repaying the expenses of Russian airlines operating commercial flights from November 2022 to March 2023. This will ensure the continuation of the activities of Russian airlines and the preservation of civil aviation aviation personnel,” the report says.

Applications from air carriers are accepted from today until January 22, the winners will be announced on January 28.

Within the framework of this measure of state support, for which 25.3 billion rubles will be allocated, it is planned to pay 1.11 rubles each. for each passenger-kilometer performed by airlines on domestic routes. At the same time, the expected passenger turnover should be at least 90% of the figure for the same period in 2022. As a result, carriers should ensure a total passenger turnover of at least 22.2 billion passenger-kilometers.

“The conditions for granting the subsidy encourage the airline to increase the aircraft’s flight time and operate flights with sufficient payload. The more passenger-kilometers an airline performs, the more funds it will receive as a subsidy to reimburse operating expenses,” the Rosaviatsia explained.

In 2022 airlines received 100 billion rubles as subsidies, which were distributed among 32 carriers. Half of these funds were received by the group “Aeroflot“(airlines”Aeroflot”, “Russia”, “Victory”, “Aurora”). In addition, airlines also received 19.4 billion rubles. for the return of tickets for flights canceled due to external restrictions. Another 2.9 billion rubles. was distributed among cargo airlines. From January to November 2022, Russian airlines carried a total of 88 million passengers, 14.8 million people (or 14%) less than in the same period last year, wrote formerly Vedomosti.
