Rosaviatsia banned the use of 27 aircraft for flights to Egypt – Kommersant

Last week, Rosaviatsia sent telegrams to Aeroflot and Rossiya airlines asking them not to operate flights to Egypt on 27 aircraft due to the risk of their arrest. Have read the document “News”their authenticity was confirmed by the Federal Air Transport Agency.

“We do not recommend flights to points in the Arab Republic of Egypt from 12:00 on January 12 until a special decision on the following aircraft…” the telegram says. The telegram affected ten Airbus A320s, nine Boeing 777-300ERs, four Airbus A321s and an Airbus A350 of Aeroflot. In turn, the Rossiya company was at risk of seizure of three Boeing 737-800.

According to the source, the telegrams were sent immediately after receiving information about the possible arrest of these Russian ships at Egyptian airports. All 27 vessels belong to the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC). They are among the 37 Russian aircraft that were disputed in the High Court of Ireland with the aim of seizing them from the State Transport Leasing Company. Izvestia’s source in the Ministry of Transport noted that the Russian side lost the lawsuit. It is noted that both airlines operate flights to Egypt using other aircraft.
