Rosaviatsia re-registered 658 foreign-made aircraft in the Russian registry. About it reported in the department’s press office.

“For a year and a half, the Federal Air Transport Agency re-registered 658 foreign-made aircraft used by 30 Russian airlines for commercial transportation. Three planes of aircraft owners have also been re-registered,” the report says.

The representative office added that now there are more than 10,000 aircraft in the State Register of Civil Aircraft of Russia. In addition, in 2022 and the first half of this year, 132 vessels for commercial transportation made in Russia were registered in the state register – 43 aircraft and 89 helicopters.

In March 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the rights to foreign aircraft on lease to be registered in Russia, thanks to which airlines began to transfer aircraft to the Russian register, which made it possible to avoid the arrest of the vessel. The head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Alexander Neradko, said that Russian specialists are able to maintain the airworthiness of foreign-made aircraft, as they understand technical literature and are able to speak and read English.

In February, Neradko also informedthat more than 180 foreign aircraft operated by Russian airlines were deregistered in Bermuda and Ireland.

The problem with the Western registration of aircraft assembled abroad appeared after the introduction of European-American sanctions. The ban included restrictions on flights to the European Union and a halt in the supply of aircraft parts. In March 2022, countries suspended the validity of certificates for flights of Airbus and Boeing aircraft held by Russian air carriers.
