Rosatom spoke about plans to build nuclear power plants in new countries

State corporation “Rosatom» is close to concluding agreements on the construction of nuclear power plants with 3-4 new countries. This was told by the CEO of the company Alexei Likhachev on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
“Somewhere up to about 10 countries are in negotiations with us to start joint activities in terms of building nuclear power plants, and in 3-4 cases we are already close to concluding intergovernmental agreements,” said Likhachev (quoted by RIA Novosti).
This afternoon, the press service of Rosatom reportedthat Russia and Myanmar have signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful atom. From the message of the state corporation it follows that under this agreement, the countries will conduct joint activities aimed at implementing the project of a low-power nuclear power plant (ASMM) in Myanmar.

Then he recalled that Rosatom is implementing projects for the construction of nuclear power plants in a number of other countries – China, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Hungary, Egypt. In particular, in May 2022, the “first concrete” was poured at power unit No. 4 of the Xudapu NPP in China. In July 2022, the official start was given to the construction of the fourth power unit of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and the construction of the first power unit of the El Dabaa NPP in Egypt began. Novak added that plans are being discussed to build a second nuclear power plant in Turkey.
