The State Commission for Solid Mineral Reserves Rosnedra confirmed the discovery of gold reserves at Rosatom’s Sovinoye deposit in the amount of more than 100 tons, reported Atomredmetzoloto company (mining division of the state corporation). This is the largest gold deposit discovered in Russia since 1991.

“At the moment, all prospecting, topographic-geodetic, geological-geochemical and geophysical work has been completed. Drilling operations were carried out year-round. In just three years, 123 wells with a total length of more than 32 km were drilled,” the report says.

Atomredmetzoloto invested more than 1 billion rubles. to create a mining cluster based on the Sovinoe deposit and the Ryveem and Dor ore fields. By the end of 2028, it is planned to complete construction and launch mining and processing production. From 2029, as the company expects, the deposit will produce from 3 tons of gold per year.

In November last year, Atomredmetzoloto signed an agreement with the government of Chukotka on cooperation in the development of Sovinoye and the creation of an energy-industrial cluster in the region. The volume of capital investments in the frame is approximately 20 billion rubles.
