Rosalkogolregulirovanie supported the proposal to lift the moratorium on unscheduled inspections in the production and circulation of alcohol, which was previously made by State Duma deputies from the A Just Russia – For Truth party. About this with reference to a letter to the Ministry of Economic Development from the head of Rosalkogolregulirovanie Igor Alyoshin writes TASS.

Party leader Sergei Mironov and MP Yana Lantratova sent an appeal against the backdrop of mass poisoning with surrogate alcohol that occurred in several regions in early June. Then, 106 people from the Samara region were poisoned from drinking the drink “Mr. Cider”, 36 of them died.

“Rosalkogolregulirovanie supports the initiative to lift the moratorium on unscheduled inspections and other control (supervisory) activities in the production and circulation of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products,” the letter says.

Rosalkogolregulirovanie also recognized the introduction of a state monopoly on the production and circulation of ethyl alcohol as inappropriate, since such a measure would require “significant costs” from the federal budget for the acquisition of a controlling stake in companies.

Earlier, the National Association of Traditional Cider Producers, as well as other market participants that produce similar products from natural berries and fruits, approached Russian President Vladimir Putin with a proposal to set minimum retail prices (MRP) for cider. The Ministry of Finance supported this proposal. At the same time, the ministry proposed lifting the moratorium on inspections of producers and sellers of alcohol and spirits.

Earlier it was reported that the producers of beer, cider and beer drinks do not threaten checks from Rosalkogolregulirovanie. As Yelena Tyukina, director of production at Krasny Pivovar, said following a meeting in the State Duma on June 9, at which amendments to the legislation on the circulation of these drinks were discussed, “legislators consider the Chestny Znak labeling system and the register of alcoholic equipment to be a sufficient measure. Inspections, she said, are likely to be carried out at retail outlets selling beer, cider and beer drinks.

In early June, mass poisoning with surrogate alcohol occurred in several regions of Russia. The reason was alcohol brand “Mr. Cider”, which was produced in the Samara region. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that in the course of a chemical forensic examination, impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate were detected in the seized cider in proportions dangerous to humans. According to the results of toxicological studies, methanol was found in the blood of the victims. Alcohol, which was used to make cider, was seized as part of a criminal case, it was originally stolen from the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
