Rogov confirmed the restoration of external power supply to Zaporozhye NPP

External power supply has been restored at the Zaporozhye NPP, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, confirmed. IAEA claimsthat the reason for the disconnection of two power lines was physical damage “50-60 km from the station in the territory controlled by Ukraine.” Mr. Rogov said that “there was nothing to repair.” He said TASSthat Kyiv deliberately turned off the power supply in order to damage the station.

Mr. Grossi called on the parties to establish a nuclear safety zone around the Zaporozhye NPP “to prevent a nuclear accident.” “We can’t afford to waste any more time. We must act before it is too late,” he said in a statement on the IAEA website.

ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Russia took control of it at the end of February, at the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine. In early October, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the transfer of the Zaporizhzhya NPP to Russian jurisdiction.
