Roskomnadzor blocked the websites of the Amazon Web Services cloud platform and the domain name registrar and hosting company GoDaddy. Access to the sites was blocked due to the fact that the companies did not comply with the requirements of the “landing” law. Access to the cloud service is blocked from April 15and to the hosting provider – with 12th of April.

The supervisory authority has not yet restricted access to Hetzner Online GmbH and FastComet, which are also included in the list of foreign hosting providers subject to “landing” in Russia.

Before this Roskomnadzor blocked in Russia there are eight hosting providers for failure to comply with the landing law. Since the end of March, RKN has blocked the sites Kamatera, WPEngine and HostGator.com, and since April – Network Solutions, DreamHost, Bluehost, Ionos and DigitalOcean. Previously, Roskomnadzor had not applied such measures as part of the requirements for foreign IT companies.

The Landing Law requires foreign IT companies with more than 500 thousand visitors per day in the Russian Federation to create representative offices in Russia, a feedback form, and create personal accounts on the RKN website. From December 1, 2023, the requirements became more stringent: hosting providers were required to enter a special RKN register, as well as identify their clients by payment, phone number or documents.
