“There has been a big debate about limiting gas prices, and the commission should come up with a proposal that will help lower the price of all gas, but at the same time not jeopardize gas supplies to Europe,” one diplomat said.
September 7 at the European Commission (EC) reportedthat they will propose to the EU countries to impose a price cap on Russian gas as one of the measures to combat the energy crisis. The EC wants to set a ceiling of €50 per MWh, informs Politico.
Today, September 9, Belgian Energy Minister Tinne Van der Streten statedthat the country does not agree to impose price restrictions only on gas from Russia. Previously opposed restrictions Hungary and Czech.
