Kazakhstan will deliver 100,000 tons of oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline from the resources of Kazmunaigas. This was reported Reuters two sources familiar with the plans of Kazakh exporters.
Part of the feedstock will come from Kazmunaigas’ share in the Karashaganak Petroleum Operating consortium. According to one of the sources, the buyer will be Schwedt Rosneft Deutschland, which owns the RSK Schwedt refinery.
Germany has stopped using the Druzhba pipeline for the supply of raw materials from Russia and supplies the Shwedt refinery with oil delivered by sea. Previously, the plant received almost all raw materials for processing through the Druzhba pipeline.
The shareholders of the plant were Rosneft and the Italian Eni (54.17% and 8.33%, respectively). In September, the German authorities transferred the assets of Rosneft in the refinery to the management of the trust. Rosneft called this decision illegal and announced its intention to challenge it in court.
In 2023, Russia is to supply 1.2 million tons of Kazakh oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline, including 300,000 tons in the first quarter. However, by mid-February, deliveries had not begun. Kazakh Vice Energy Minister Askhat Khasenov said this week that deliveries are still scheduled to begin in February.
Three sources told Reurters that Kazakhstan’s oil deliveries to Germany via Druzhba are being delayed due to difficulties in negotiating commercial and legal issues.
