Reuters: CPC limited shipments from the Black Sea terminal

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has suspended oil shipments from two of three TLUs at its Black Sea terminal at Yuzhnaya Ozereevka, two sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. Shipments are suspended from August 5th and 17th for TLU testing. VPU-3 is still working, one of the sources said, without specifying the reasons for the check.
The decommissioning of two TLUs has not yet affected the fulfillment of the August schedule for oil shipments, another source said. In 2022, CPC repeatedly suspended oil shipments due to repairs, as well as in connection with departmental checks, Reuters reports. The CPC representative did not promptly comment on this situation to the agency.
CPC is the main route for transporting Kazakhstan’s export oil, and also receives raw materials from Russian fields, including those located in the Caspian Sea. CPC’s shareholders are Russia, which owns 31%, Kazakhstan (20.75%), Chevron Corporation (15%) and private companies.
Earlier, Reuters, citing sources reportedthat from September of this year, Kazakhstan intends to sell part of its crude oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline of Azerbaijan, as it is looking for alternatives to CPC.
