The Republika Srpska (RS), which is part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, intends to conclude an agreement on long-term supplies of Russian gas by the end of the year. About this in an interview “Izvestia” stated the Prime Minister of the Republic Radovan Viskovic. He did not name the expected supply volumes or price.
“We received confirmation during a meeting with Mr. Novak (Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.— “Ъ”), which was also attended by Gazprom management. Now we are at the stage of negotiations and we believe that we will not have problems on this issue,” the prime minister clarified.
According to Mr. Vishkovich, gas supply routes are complicated, but their implementation is still possible. “Gas goes to Hungary through the territory of Ukraine, to Serbia through Bulgaria. We expect that the pipeline from Serbia will be built as planned, and we will receive gas through it,” explained the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is connected to the Serbian pipeline transit system. Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik in September 2022 met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and then called the topic of gas one of the main ones. In June, the gas company GAS-RES, owned by the republic, extended its contract with Gazprom. The Republic’s Ministry of Energy said that the price is about $290 per 1 thousand cubic meters. m. Authorities of the RS talked about willingness to pay for gas in rubles.
