Representatives of the Taliban met with businessmen from Russia

Russian businessmen met with the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) Kudratullah Jamal, which controls Afghanistan. This was reported by the press service of the Taliban Ministry, writes Interfax.

“The Russian delegation has declared its readiness to invest in the power industry, agriculture and utilities in Afghanistan,” the ministry said.

The press service noted that the businessmen suggested that the Taliban set up a joint commercial agency in both countries so that traders can easily export their commercial goods. Who was in the Russian delegation is not specified.

In early August, the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reportedthat the Taliban delegation arrived in Astana to participate in a joint business forum with Kazakhstan, which was held from 3 to 5 August. It was reported that over 150 businessmen from Afghanistan will take part in the forum.

The Taliban office has already announced a meeting with Russian investors in early 2022. As declared representative of the terrorist movement Inamulla Samangani, the meeting discussed oil and gas production, the creation of oil and gas processing enterprises, cement and alloy plants, as well as the creation of a cement production company.

The Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021 after the withdrawal of American troops from the country. Moscow does not officially recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan, but cooperates with representatives of the movement. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia will seek to take a decision to remove the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations, but it must first be taken at the UN level.
