The total capacity of facilities based on renewable energy sources that have been launched in Russia in the first six months of 2023 is 264 MW. This is 72% higher than the same period in 2022. This was reported in the Association for the Development of Renewable Energy.
Over the past six months, wind power plants with a total capacity of 192 MW have been launched in Russia, including the Kolskaya wind farm – 32 MW, the Kuzminskaya wind farm – 160 MW, and another 24.9 MW are accounted for by the Krasnogorsk small hydroelectric power station. Unigreen Energy’s solar power plants accounted for 44.1 MW, while LUKOIL’s Krasnopolyanskaya HPP accounted for 3.3 MW.
As Aleksey Zhikharev, head of the association, said, against the backdrop of sanctions, investors refused to implement only four of the previously planned projects based on renewable energy sources. According to him, the remaining projects remain relevant “with a certain delay.”
The total renewable generation capacity in Russia is 6,044 MW, which is 540 MW more than a year earlier. The head of the association expects that from 2024 the volume of construction of such facilities will double, and in 2025 a new record will be set – this figure will reach 1,500 MW.
