The Red Wings airline may change its base airport from Domodedovo to Vnukovo. This information was confirmed to Vedomosti by a representative of the carrier.
“The possibility of redeployment is being considered, we confirm that negotiations are underway,” he said.
Previously, that the Red Wings can change the base airport, informed TASS, citing a source in the industry. According to him, Vnukovo airport may become the new base of the airline instead of Domodedovo, from where it has been flying since 1999.
It is clarified that the reason for changing the airport may be “unresolved a number of procedural issues.” Changes may occur as early as the summer schedule, and the carrier will retain flights from the Zhukovsky airport near Moscow, TASS wrote.
The core of the Red Wings fleet is Sukhoi SuperJet aircraft. The company currently operates 17 such aircraft. There are also three Boeing 777-200s in the Red Wings fleet and, from 2020, one Tu-214 aircraft in a VIP configuration. In 2021, the airline served 2.99 million passengers, including 2.06 million on domestic flights.
