The certification body “Roskachestvo – Halal” issued the first official halal certificate in Russia. Some of the products of the Red October confectionery factory are recognized as halal, including the candies “Alenka”, “Grilyazhnye”, “Kozinachki with salt”, “Bird’s milk”, chocolate “Alenka” and dark chocolate “Babaevsky”, she reported “RIA News” press service of Roskachestvo.

“The largest confectionery holding in Russia, United Confectioners, received a halal certificate from the certification body Roskachestvo – Halal for part of the products of the Red October factory. The corresponding certificate became the first in our country included in the federal state information system of Rosakcreditation,” the department said in a statement.

Roskachestvo stated that the inspection of production processes and finished products was carried out by employees of Roskachestvo – Halal, as well as “leading experts in the field of Sharia in our country.”

It is reported that more than 70 applications for Halal certification have currently been submitted to the certification body. As Roskachestvo clarifies, halal confectionery products should not, in particular, contain gelatin and carmine.

Roskachestvo reported plans to create a center to develop a national halal standard in January. Its competence, in particular, was to include monitoring the quality of halal products, as well as promoting Russian halal products in the domestic market and abroad.
