Rector of St. Petersburg State Economic University Maksimtsev may replace Mau on the Board of Directors of Gazprom

“Gazprom» approved the list of candidates for election to the Board of Directors – 11 people for 11 seats. The list includes ten current members of the board of directors of the holding, as well as the rector of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics (SPBGEU) Igor Maksimtsev, should from a company message.

At the same time, the former rector of the RANEPA Vladimir Mau, who served as an independent director, was excluded from the list of candidates. The same duties will be transferred to Maksimtsev if his candidacy is approved at the general meeting of shareholders on June 30.

In addition, the meeting will consider the issue of the amount of dividends, the timing and form of their payment based on the results of work for 2022. The list of persons who will be able to participate in the shareholders’ meeting will be compiled based on the data from the Gazprom shareholder register as of June 5.

Now the board of directors of Gazprom includes the chairman of the board of directors of the company Viktor Zubkov, the chairman of the board of directors of Gazprom Alexei Miller, his deputy Vitaly Markelov, the first deputy general director of Gazprom Export and the general director of Gazprom Trading Mikhail Sereda, the chairman of the board of Gazprombank Andrey Akimov, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov, Deputy Prime Ministers Alexander Novak and Denis Manturov, and independent directors Viktor Martynov and Vladimir Mau.

On January 23, Mau, who has been the rector of the Academy of National Economy under the government since 2002, and since 2010 – RANEPA, was withdrawn from this post at his own request due to health reasons. His duties were transferred to the vice-rector of the university Alexei Komissarov.

Previously, the source of “RIA Novosti” informedthat Mau went on holiday to Israel a few months ago and hasn’t returned yet. The press service of the RANEPA reported in November that Mau gone on an annual scheduled vacation, during which the duties of the rector were performed by Dmitry Arefiev.

Mau was a suspect in the case of ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Education Marina Rakova and director of the Institute of Social Sciences of the RANEPA, rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka) Sergei Zuev. mau was detained at the end of June 2022, he was suspected of involvement in fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). He pleaded not guilty and called the accusations “absurd.” In early August, the rector of the RANEPA was replaced with house arrest for a written undertaking not to leave the country. Mau later returned to work at the academy. In October 2022, his lawyer informed on the termination of the criminal case against Mau.
